I'm thinking that if I change my system I'll go to Sanden and 4.0L serpentine setup at the same time.
FOR SALE
'87 Comanche 4.0L AW4/NP242 3.73 gears, lifted 5" on near new 33" tires $3500 obo
'82 Eagle Wagon (Brown Betty) 4.2L/727/NP229 and soon 8.25 rear axle and non-vacuum 3.08 front to match. 235/75/15 tires. It's down to minor body work (someone creamed my driver's door but I have another in good shape) almost rust free and interior work (seats are worn and carpet torn). $2000 but about to go up due to more work being done.

I did the AC delete and kept the single groove pulley. Just put a 39" belt from the crank to the alternator and your all set. Of course you will need a new mounting bracket which I ordered from APD.

See mine is equipped with AC, but it doesn't work. And, honestly, I have not looked into it. However, assuming this axle transplant goes well (crossing fingers, mechanic can't find an axle), it will be my only car in June when my lease is up. THEN it WILL have working AC!

Had working AC but removed. I never use it, I just roll down the windows and drive faster.

When the temp is 110F driving faster makes it worse.
The 88 cools at 85F but can't keep up at 100+.  I think it needs a shot of 134.
Can't say about the 83.  It blew an AC hose while sitting.  When I tried it all that 134 went on the carport floor.  I think it was cooling but haven't tried it lately - and now I can't try it.
I'm right 98% of the time, and I don't care about the other 3%.

I have owned two SX/4s that had working AC, and both were factory AC cars. One I properly discharged the R-12 from the system to build the car and have yet to finish reassembly(my Golden Eagle project). The other(Blue SX/4) I installed one of Gronk's kickarse MC2100 kits and got it running clean and sold it with working "HFC-12" in the system. The two parts-car SX/4s I've had were both non-AC cars . . . so, AC cars survive longer than non-AC cars ? . . that would be another statistic worth looking into.

Totally off topic, but I really need one of Gronk's kits...althought the BBD is actually behaving itself lately...now I'm afraid to mess with it.

Wouldn't be surprising, considering A/C became standard on most cars after the 80s, and cars with working A/C are generally more preferable to car buyers.
