Title: AMC Eagle Family Tree
Post by: IowaEagle on August 07, 2006, 09:11:24 PM
Borrowed an idea from Route66Rambler.  Most models I could think of are here.  I think.  I think its amazing the number of model variations from one simple platform.  And, look at all the 2 door models!

For a cleaner, printable version here is a link to the .pdf version.  It is legal sized so have the correct paper to print it and make sure to set the paper size to 8 1/2 X 14 in your printer settings.  View or print here  http://www.amceaglenest.com/images/PDFS/Eaglefamilytree.pdf  (http://www.amceaglenest.com/images/PDFS/Eaglefamilytree.pdf)

And the 1970 Hornet begat..................

Thank You.  Especially if it could be blown up to poster size.  It does need some "neatness" tweaking.  But what the heck -- you can't beat the price.

I like your display with your Eagle. It does not have to be very big if you had many pages to display. I made this awhile back. I got the idea from another Eagle owner.  It is more interesting to look at a car if you know something about it.

Very nice and easily read.   I have my Eagle (and Concord) stuff in notebooks for folks to go thru.  On the pages that are kept open for viewing is a fact sheet about the car and its window sticker.  Other pages they can look at contain the dealer brochure for the year of the car.

The display board, currently, markets the Nest and it also has a Select Drive ad since many folks do not realize Eagle's were 4WD until a much closer look at the car.

Do we have a family tree anywhere in the forum that traces the AMC vehicles from 1958-1988?  This is one of the tag lines on my AMC Club's shirts...

"Great Cars 1958 to '88"

I thought it would be cool to have a poster of an AMC family tree with all of the models from those years to post at the car club meetings.

route66rambler is working on one of those extended family trees.  I got the idea from him and just did an Eagle one.  I did not go further back than the Hornet as there was enough of a change between the Rambler American and the Hornet for me to consider the American not as nearly related to the Eagle as the Hornet obviously is.  The Hornet was the first AMC compact to have a full ball joint suspension rather than trunions like previous AMC's used and of course the sheet metal on a Hornet screams Eagle.

I understand that.  I really like the presentation.  Nice job.  I actually have one posted in my office for people to see.  I was just curious if anyone had tried doing the extended family tree 58-88.  I know people in my car club would be interested.

I think we are working on getting club jackets with our cars on them at the next meeting in September.  That would be cool as well.

I visted with Michael (route66rambler) today, in an e-mail, to let you know of your interest.  I think we really need to go back to 1954 when AMC was created.    Michael is more ambitious and is going way back to the first Jefferey vehicle.

That would be cool to see as well.  My car club seems to have an acclectic collection of interests in vehicles, but the common thread is that they all own at least one 58-88 AMC.

I have been messing around with the 54's -- took a while to find them all -- especially pictures.  I can see where Michael will have a lot of fun going back before the turn of 20th century with all the predecessor cars before AMC.  We think the Kammback or Sundancer are rare -- the Hudson Italia for 54/55 only consisted of 26 units.

That really would be a challenge, but I would love to see the results.  I am sure the internet would be very useful finding pictures.

The internet is our friend.  The internet is our friend.  Yup, that is where I finally found 'em all.

Kind of got a start on it.  I am not 100% sure on the accuracy of this so far.  So please feel free to check my work.  Some of the models changed their exterion appearance each year -- especially the "V" Hudsons but it really would have cluttered up the family tree.

Thanks.  I did not include all the submodels/variations of each model as that would have led, I  think to a lot of confusion.
Jeep is something to think about if and when I get to 1970.

I am just thinking strictly 58-88 AMCs, so I think I will start when AMC saved took over Jeep in 1970.  Hopefully I will get to that this weekend.

That is a good way of approaching it.  It should be interesting as I do not know very much about all the Jeep lines or year's of production.

What kind of document are you using to present all this information Iowa Eagle??

Nothing on paper yet.  I did the AMC Eagle family tree on MS Publisher 2000 and then converted it to a PDF file which you have access to here.  I have not done that for the other one that I messed with yet.  I think Mike (route66rambler) will have the full one at the new website he is building.  I suppose if there is interest in a cleaned up, spruced up version of the AMC Eagle Family Tree in a larger poster sized format we could look into that.

Didn't all Bantam end up with was the contact to build Jeep trailers and not actual Jeeps?

YEs, Bantam did the trailers not the Jeeps.  I have a start on the Jeep timeline.  Could I possibly send it to you IowaEagle or Route66Rambler to put it into a Publisher Format?  When I am finished of course.  I do not have access to such a program.  I am doing mine one word so far.  I started with the original protypes in 1940, and I have gotten thru the 50's I think.  I have outlined every model through the present on the document, but I need some picutres yet.

I will try to get it done ASAP.  Let me know if I could forward it to one of you for formating.

Thanks,

Brandon

If you want to see my progress so far let me know.

PM me your email and I will send you what I have.  I have all the CJ's represented.  I have all the passenger vehicles from the original Jeepster to the Cherokees.  I need to add in the Dispatcher Jeeps (Postal) and I need to figure out how to make space to create a trace line for the Pickup Trucks.  Other than that I am done.

I just have five more pictures to find and five descriptions to write.  Then I will send it out.  I am having a bit of a formating issue.  Trying to use Microsoft word, and there is not enough room.  I think I will copy it all when finished to another blank document, then I will shrink down the pictures and take out the descriptions.  That should allow me to go three wide on a landscape formatted page.  Don't you think?

You should be able too.  I can always reformat it from word into publsher.

Iowa Eagle and Route66Rambler, check your email, I sent you two different versions of my Jeep timeline.  I have no way of posting it.  I have it saved as a Word Document.  Could one of you post it for me??  Please???

I checked both of my e-mail accounts and nothing from you showed up.  Hopefully Mike got one.  If not, try again later.

New Jeep Family Tree Thread Started here in the archives.  I thought I split all of the posts off from here about Jeeps, but apparently not.
